1826 - Brazil, a paradisiacal place with many natural beauty but taken by injustice, violence and oppression! In this context, we show our heroes: Akil, Mandinga, a Muslim with many diversified knowledges such as writing and reading, and Obadelê, Yoruba, a strong capoeira warrior.
Together they will overcome differences and fight for freedom!
A Muslim with some knowledge, he gained a prominent position among other Africans on the farm where he was kept. Due to his intelligence and capacity for easy dialogue, he had the opportunity to sell part of the crops, such as fruits and vegetables, in the city of Salvador, becoming a "Black Gain". Akil earned a little money he dreamed of buying his freedom.
He did not get involved with the other blacks who lived in Senzala, as he considered them a group of infidels for not being Muslims.
Along his journey with Obadelê, his beliefs, philosophies and way of seeing the world of Mandinga will pass several tests, expanding Akil's faith and knowledge.
Like thousands of his people, Obadelê was forcibly brought to Brazil to work in the sugarcane fields. Strong bearing, preferring demonstrate their ideas through actions rather than words.
Unlike his cousin Ayomide, responsible for the few smiles on him face, Obadelê does not participate in religious rituals or believes in the power of the entities of the orixás, despite knowing their stories.
In his jorney with Akil, the fierce and severe behavior will go through situations that will force him to adapt and face new ways of relating to his own beliefs and others.
